While at Penn State, Margaret served as President of Women in Transition in 2004 and was elected to Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities & Colleges in 2007.

She was a member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church. Margaret volunteered at the Sharon Library literacy program, as a tutor for those learning English as a second language, and for the Mercer County Election office at polls for many elections.
