Nickolas Holup, 90, of Sharon, passed away peacefully of natural causes 3:00 am on Thursday May 15, 2014 in his home.  
He was born on November 26, 1923 to George and Martha (Virostick) Holup in Sharon, PA. He attended Sharon Schools. Nick was a veteran of World War II. He served in the US Army Air Corps as a Staff Sgt. and was stationed mainly in Foggia, Italy in the 744th Bombardment Squadron, 456th Bombardment Group. Nick worked as a Yard Conductor for Erie Lackawanna Railroad 43 years until his retirement on November 27th, 1984. On August 3, 1946 he married Barbara Ann Bosnjak who survives at home.
Nick was a lifetime member of St. Michael Byzantine Catholic Church Hermitage, PA. Also a member of Carpo-Russian Club, was a charter member of Sharpsville VFW Post 6404, Erie Railroad Golf League, 30 year member of Greek Catholic Union # 258, St. Michael Byzantine Catholic Church Golf League, and Basilones Golf League. He enjoyed golfing and was an avid Buhl Park walker.
Nickolas is survived by his loving spouse Barbara, daughter - Kathie M. (Stephen) Sherman of Hermitage, PA; son - Robert W. (Nellie) Holup of Sharpsville, PA; sister - Martha Ledden of Akron, OH; 2 granddaughters - Amanda (Chris) Cowan of Brookfield, OH, Elizabeth (Chris) Sullivan of Broadview Heights, OH; grandson - Stephen J. (Angelia) Sherman II of Hermitage, PA, also many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by father, George Holup, mother, Martha Holup, brother, Michael Holub, sister, Katherine Jacobson, sister, Mary Lou Freeburg, sister, Anne Ristvey, sister, Helen Charles.
Friends may call Friday, May 16, 2014 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Stephen J. Sherman Funeral Home, 2201 Highland Rd. Hermitage, PA.

Panachida prayer service will be offered on Saturday May 17th, 2014 at 10:00 am in the Stephen J. Sherman Funeral Home.
Divine Liturgy will be on Saturday, May 17, 2014, 10:30 am at St. Michaels Byzantine Catholic Church, Hermitage, PA, with Father Kevin Marks, officiating.

Full military honors will be offered by Farrell VFW, West Middlesex VFW, and Wheatland American Legion.
Burial will take place in the St. Michaels Byzantine Catholic Cemetery.
Donations may be sent to the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh 4401 Penn Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15224 in memory of Nick.

I always enjoyed playing Nicks lotto numbers at country fair 9009, 5115 and sometimes 5515. He always brought a smile to my face. He would come into the store and i would have his numbers waiting for him so we would talk about life and his family. He will be greatly missed what a great man.
