Alan Erimias Obituary

Alan John Erimias

March 10, 1955 – June 15, 2025

Al Erimias 70, passed away on June 15, 2025, at Eagle Pointe Nursing and Rehab Center, Orwell, Ohio. He was born to Frank and Helen (Perhacs) Erimias at Sharon Regional Hospital on March 10, 1955.

He worked in his Grandparents Grocery store “Erimias’ Food Market” on the corner of Hull and 4th St in Sharon, Pa. during the 1960’s. He was of Catholic faith, serving as an alter boy in his early years at the Hungarian Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church on Fruit Avenue in Farrell, Pa.

Al graduated from Sharpsville High School in 1973. He was a member of the golf team his sophomore, junior, and senior years. He was the starting right offensive tackle for the 1972 Sharpsville Blue Devils Football Team that had a 9 win, 1 loss record. In recognition for his athletic talents, he made both Northwest Conference & Mercer County All-Star teams. Al earned 4 letters during his High School years. He also participated in Concert Choir as a tenor and was selected to the District Chorus his junior and senior years.

Al went on to further his academic and scholastic at Youngstown State University receiving a Full Scholarship to play football for the Penguins. Al went on to earn an Associate Degree in Business Management from Penn State University.

Al predominantly worked in Management for several local restaurants in the Shenango Valley area throughout his career.

Al had a great love for building and painting plastic models specifically dealing with the various war planes. He shared his love for his hobby over the years with friends and his nephews. This led him to be the founder of SVASM (Shenango Valley Area Scale Modelers), serving as President for numerous years in it’s early years. The Association still remains as an active Club today.

His love for golf continued from his high school years motivating him to start up an annual, local golf outing known as the “Greater Shenango Valley Open Golf Tournament”. Al loved getting his golfing friends, family, or anyone to participate in this tournament to celebrate life and his love for the game. He went all out awarding trophies and such to winners of various categories. He did a great job of organizing this all to bring friends and loved ones together.

Al’s faith, family, and friends were his life. He treasured spending time with his Dad, singing at Holy Trinity for Sunday Masses as well as the Christmas Eve Mass where Al shared solos with his father. He loved his mother and spent endless time talking to her. His Hungarian Heritage followed him throughout his life enjoying picnics, family parties, and bacon fries in Dad’s backyard and making The Erimias Family Sausage.

Al was also involved in the Buhl Summer Playhouse in the mid 1970’s. He was in “The Music Man” and “Fiddler on the Roof” productions.

Al loved family. He spent selfless hours with his Nieces and nephews. From the family football games to sled riding at Goat Hill. He was truly dedicated to making sure they enjoyed themselves when he was around them.

Al was a great son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend who celebrated life early on. His close friends and family will remember the great, caring, loving person he was. Always a smile and kind words to others. One to give his shirt off his back to help someone in need.

Al was fortunate to have loving, lifelong friends, who were there with him through it all. Bob, Keith, Mike and Francie were always there for him.

Al was preceded in his death by his parents Frank and Helen Erimias, brother Dave Erimias, niece Cassandra Wiley, and his grandparents.

Surviving are his brother Frank (Andrea) Erimias, John Erimias, Nieces Samantha (Derek) Bedenbaugh, Kellie (John) Laschinsky, Nephews Aaron Erimias, Marc (Emily) Erimias, Frank (Kellie) Erimias, David (Christine) Erimias and Sister in-law Carol Erimias.
