Basil Lazor Obituary

Basil T. Lazor, affectionately known as “Buzz” entered into Eternal Rest on Monday May 31st, 2021 at 8:34 pm in UPMC Shenango Valley in Farrell, PA. He was born July 17th, 1947 at his family home in Sharpsville to Pauline (Keckes) and Michael Lazor.

Everyone in the Shenango Valley knew Buzz. In fact, it was impossible to miss him. At 6’6” tall, he towered over most people. He loved the simple things in life. At the top of the list was his custom-made bicycle. Buzz rode his bike everywhere and was a fixture at Buhl Park. He loved to spend Sunday evenings at the Buhl Park concerts and keeping cool in the swimming pool. Buzz also loved to bowl and was a member of the St. Michael’s bowling league and the Thornton Hall Thursday Night Mixed League. He was phenomenally gifted in drawing, even creating a detailed picture of the Taj Mahal, all done freehand and to scale. Most of all, he was a kind and gentle soul who won the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. Buzz always had so much affection towards his nieces and nephews and anxiously awaited visits from them or talking on the phone.

In his younger days he worked various jobs but his favorite was working at Buhl Park helping to cut grass and other tasks asked of him. Besides bowling and biking, he enjoyed playing bingo at the Keystone Blind Association and loved playing checkers with his family and friends. Outdoors he loved playing bean bag toss and just relaxing with his binoculars or taking “Mystery Trips”. Music was always a big part of his life, especially listening to the oldies and his favorite church hymns.

Buzz is survived by his sisters, Stephanie (Gordon) Longstreet whom he lived with in Sharpsville, PA, Paula (Doug) Cruickshank of Arlington, VA, nieces and nephews, Kevin Ramsey, Christine Schott, Lauren (R.J.) Schultz, John (Kelsey) Cruickshank, and great niece Jane Rose. Also surviving are many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Pauline Lazor.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to St. Michaels Byzantine Catholic Church or Buhl Park in memory of Buzz.
