Carol Schaner Obituary
Carol Ann Schaner, 74, passed away on Sunday, September 23, 2018. She was surrounded by family at her home in West Middlesex, PA.
Carol was born March 9, 1944 in Sharon, PA to John and Ann (Kedrick) Kritz Jr. She graduated from West Middlesex High School, class of 1962, and then served several years as an assembly line worker for Packard Electric Corp, where she forged relationships with a group of women who became lifelong friends. On October 7, 1972, Carol married her husband John F. Schaner, who survives at home.
She was a committed, compassionate caregiver to family and friends over her lifetime, and a Good Samaritan to countless strangers. Carol was an active member of St. Michael Byzantine Catholic Church in Hermitage, PA, where she helped with the CCD education program. Through Bethany Ministry, she offered support and assistance to community members experiencing difficulties in life, and generously helped many residents and their families at Saint John XXIII Home in Hermitage.
Carol meticulously cared for her home, where her green thumb and passion for landscaping shined. She loved hosting parties and kept family traditions alive. She was an avid Notre Dame fan and also a member of the Hickory VFW golf league and a local bowling league.
Carol is survived by her devoted husband John; daughter Kristin Deanne Schaner and partner Lori Monk of Atlanta, GA; brother Doug Kritz and wife Marguerite of West Middlesex; sister-in-law Judy Kritz of Hubbard, OH; and many Godchildren, nieces and nephews and their families.
She was preceded in death by her parents John and Ann Kritz; and her beloved brother, Richard Kritz.
Parastas services will be held Wednesday, September 26th, 2018, 4:30 pm at SHERMAN Funeral Home & Cremation Service 2201 Highland Rd. Hermitage, PA
Friends may call Wednesday, September 26th, 2018 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the SHERMAN Funeral Home.
Panachida prayer service will begin at 10:30 am Thursday, September 27th, 2018 in the SHERMAN Funeral Home.
Funeral Divine Liturgy will be held on Thursday, September 27th, 2018, 11:00 am in St. Michael Byzantine Catholic Church with Father Kevin Marks, officiating and Father Frank Firko co-officiating.
Burial will take place in St. Michael Byzantine Catholic Cemetery.
