Chester Burger Obituary

Chester M. Burger Jr., 64, of Hermitage passed away peacefully at home on March 9th, 2024 surrounded by his family.

Chester was born March 12th, 1959 in Sharon, PA to Rose Marie (Bronich) and Chester M. Burger Sr. He was a 1977 graduate of Hickory High School and earned his degree in pharmacy from the University of Pittsburgh in 1988. He worked for UPMC Horizon as a pharmacist and previously at Brookville (PA) Hospital. On May 14th, 1988 he married Christine E. (Walker) Burger, his very first date and wife who survives at home.

Chet was an avid gardener, hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed smoking meats for family barbecues, competing in yard games and the next experiment in the kitchen.  In his younger years, Chet trained for and completed the inaugural Pittsburgh marathon in 1985 and could commonly be found on his road bike throughout Mercer County. He always looked forward to the first day of spring turkey season in the Allegheny National Forest and sharing in the fellowship of Black Moose Camp in Sheffield, PA.

Chester is survived by his wife, Christine, sons, Andrew Burger of Sharpsville, Alex (Michelle) Burger of Pittsburgh, sisters, Bonnie L. (J.O.) Stright of Florida, Darlene (John) Taylor of Hermitage, nephews, Justin Stright and Matthew Taylor, and numerous cousins in the valley. He is also survived by his loving pup, Cully.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Per his wish, funeral services will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, consider taking the time to call a loved one and sharing in a memory.

Arrangements entrusted to the SHERMAN Funeral Home & Crematory 2201 Highland Rd. Hermitage, PA.
