Dawn Shannon Obituary

Dawn (Zaborowski) Collier Shannon

Dawn Marie Shannon, 52, of Hermitage, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Friday February 2nd, 2018 at UPMC Shadyside in Pittsburgh, PA following a long battle with cancer.

Dawn was born on April 8th, 1965 to Ronald E. and Saundra (Andrews) Zaborowski in Sharon, PA. She graduated with honors from Farrell High School and earned her Associates Degree from Youngstown State University. She was the middle of 3 sisters who cheered for Farrell High School Sports from 1976 through 1989. On August 15th, 2014 she married her husband Chris Shannon in the wedding pavilion at the Grand Floridian in Disney World, Dawn’s favorite place in the world. Her husband Chris survives at home.

Dawn worked as a Food Service Inside Sales Rep. for Joy Cone Inc. for 18 years. Previously she worked at Eastern Petroleum in Girard, OH. She was a member of Victory Christian Center in Coitsville, OH. Her faith in God helped her get through the last six years, especially when her prognosis in February of 2012 was only 2 years. Her favorite saying was “Thank You Jesus”. She would pray and read her bible daily.

Dawn is survived by her loving husband Chris, daughter, Kayleigh Collier and her significant other Jake Stefanick and his daughter Arya Jane “Poppy” of Hermitage, a son, Kade Collier at home, her parents, two sisters, Lori O’Millian and her friend Dave Lenhart, Rhonda Majocha and husband Mark, two nephews, Camden and Cole Majocha of Moresville, NC. Also surviving are her only aunt and uncle, Kathy and Gary Andrews of Lebanon, PA, their daughter Alicia Thomas her husband Chad and their son, Paxton.

Dawn and Chris loved Disney World and traveled there 2 to 3 times a year with their co-horts in crime, her godson Cam and her “little round headed boy” Cole. They always wanted to know if Aunt Dawn and Uncle Cookie were coming too.

All we know, is that when Dawn hits those Pearly Gates, there better be a Disney World on the other side. You sit on that bench Dawn, and we’ll all eventually be there. Wait for us.

The family would like to thank all her family, friends, her church family, her Joy Cone family, and all the prayer groups that had her in their thoughts. Thank you to the doctors and medical staff on the second floor of the Hillman Cancer Center and Shadyside Hospital, especially the SICU where the doctors and staff could not have been any more caring and comforting. It helped the family get through a very difficult time.

In the words of our little Poppy, “Sh-h-h, Dawn is sleeping. I love you!” We will forever love you, Dawn. To the moon and back.

Per dawn’s request, private services will be held.

Memorial contributions may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Hospital 262 Danny Thomas Place Memphis, TN 38105 or the Hillman Cancer Center 5115 Center Ave. Pittsburgh, PA 15232 in memory of Dawn.
