Elias Mitchell “Mitch” Nassar of Charleroi and Hermitage, PA was a man of incredible talent who possessed a gift of living life to its fullest. Alongside his love for God, family and friends was his lifelong love of music and chocolate milkshakes- made with vanilla ice cream and chocolate syrup, no whipped cream, no cherry!
Wherever Mitch found a piano he sat down and livened up the room as his fingers “tickled the ivories”. Many a night family and friends fell asleep to his music, many a night they were wakened by his music. However, nothing compared to the moments when his wife and best friend, Lou Ann (or as he called her “Lulu, Lulubelle, Luella”) joined him on the piano bench to sing their love away. For as hard as he played, he worked twice as hard. He passed along his work ethic to his children with summer projects including: mulching, woodworking, sanding and staining. He taught his children to follow the grain of the wood and the benefits of tongue oil over stain.
Mitch was a true salesman and businessman. After decades in the insurance business, he created his own dust suppression company, Emulsion Technologies. It started with a truck, a hose and his kids spraying emulsion on lots and grew to be a thriving company with dedicated employees. He was known for asking, “Is that the best you can do?” Because he always gave his best he expected the best from others in return.
Over the years Mitch evolved in his faith and his relationship with God. He devoted years to writing, recording and performing his own Christian Rock Music. Physical distance did not separate him from those he loved. He spent much time on the phone with his parents Betsy Jo and Mitch Nassar, who are now deceased; and his siblings Sheri (Horst) Schulze of Atlanta, GA and Scott (Amy) Nassar of Philadelphia, PA. In recent years he became a father to his children’s spouses Erin Nassar and Phil Page. His wife Lou Ann (Scheponik) Nassar; his children Courtney Nassar of Morocco, Taylor (Nassar) Page of Doylestown, PA, and Elias Nassar of NY, NY; and a village of amazing family and friends survive Mitch.
In one of his songs he sang, “Will my Lord come out to greet me, when I’m finally at His door? And will I fall into His arms, and worry no more?” On September 15, 2015, after a fierce two-year battle with liver cancer, at the age of 61, Mitch arrived at God’s front door.
Mitch’s life was truly spent serving others. For some time Mitch has wanted to set up a scholarship fund for young people furthering their education. If anyone would choose to donate to the “Mitch Nassar Scholarship Fund” please visit: gofundme.com/hh4apfmg.
