Fred Nettinger Obituary
Fred A. Nettinger, 89, of Hermitage, passed away peacefully on Thursday January 26th, 2017 in UPMC Mercy Hospital Pittsburgh, PA.
Fred was born on December 14th, 1927 to Frank M. and Rose (Hiegel) Nettinger in West Middlesex, PA. Fred worked as a Millwright for Sawhill Tubular. In his earlier years he owned a trucking business hauling coal and other materials. Fred also worked part time as a carpenter and later built Spec. homes. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during World War II as a gunners mate aboard the USS Scabardfish submarine.
He was a member of the Church of the Good Sheppard in West Middlesex. Fred was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. He loved running his chainsaw, cutting down trees, riding his four-wheeler, and just spending time in the outdoors.
Fred is survived by his daughter, Sandy Gaines (Ray T. McKnight) of Hermitage, PA; sons, Daniel (Kimberly) Nettinger of Wheatland, PA, Gary (Sabrina) Nettinger of Lawrenceville, GA, sister Catherine Robison of New Castle, PA, also surviving are 12 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by father, Frank M. Nettinger, mother, Rose Nettinger, sisters, Barbara Mirage, Eva Parshall, Theresa Young, Elsie Cory, Mary Lou Swingle, infant Kathryn Nettinger, brothers, Frank Nettinger, infant William Nettinger, and infant Edward Nettinger.
