George J. Sewecke of Sharpsville, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on February 25th, 2026, at O’Brien Memorial in Masury, Ohio. He was 94 years old.
Born on February 2nd, 1932, in Sharon, Pennsylvania, George was the son of the late George and Martha (Orabenic) Sewecke.
On September 20th, 1958, he married the love of his life, Patricia M. (Molinari) Sewecke of Sharpsville, who predeceased him in 2017.
A 1950 graduate of Sharon High School, George proudly served his country in the U.S. Army as an ammunition's corporal with the 351st Heavy Mortar Company. Following his military service, he built a long and dedicated career as a systems technician with Bell Telephone, later transitioning to AT&T, where he retired after many years of service.
George was a devoted lifelong member of St. Michael’s Byzantine Catholic Church, where he served faithfully as an usher, committeeman, and volunteered for numerous maintenance projects. He was always generous and willing to help a friend or neighbor. In his leisure time, he enjoyed golfing, had a passion for cars, and—above all—spending time with his beloved family, especially his grandchildren, who brought him immense joy.
He is survived by his son, Dr. Jeffrey Sewecke (Angela) of Sewickley, Pennsylvania; his daughter, Lori Woolf (Jason) of Brookfield, Ohio; and his cherished grandchildren: Sarina Woolf, Michael Sewecke, Nicholas Sewecke, and Anthony Sewecke.
In addition to his wife and parents, George was preceded in death by his brothers, Walter Sewecke, Henry Sewinsky, and sister, Mildred Gula among others close to him over the years.
George’s quiet strength, unwavering faith, and deep love for his family will be remembered fondly by all who knew him. May he rest in eternal peace.
Funeral Divine Liturgy will be held Wednesday March 4th, 2026 at 1:00 pm in St. Michael Byzantine Catholic Church 2230 Highland Rd. Hermitage, PA with the Very Rev. Kevin E. Marks officiating. Friends are welcome to meet directly at church.
