HARRY JONES - RETIRED POLICEMAN 1924 - 2024
Harry (Hank) Jones, 99, formerly of Sharon, PA passed away at his daughter’s home in Southington, OH on Sunday, June 23, 2024. A lifelong resident of Sharon, PA he attended Sharon schools and enlisted in the U.S. Army. A WWII veteran, Harry was stationed in Europe. Harry retired in 1985 from the Sharon Police Department after 32 years of service. Although retired, for years he still went downtown and kept an eye on the city while he had lunch at McDonald's. An avid bowler, Harry enjoyed bowling in many leagues at Thornton Hall Bowling Lanes, including The Senior Men's Retiree League, The Get-along Gang and The Happy Timers where he was known as “Uncle Hank”. Harry was a member of the Sharon F.O.P., the Hermitage VFW and a lifelong member (76 years) of the Moose. Harry was preceded in death by his wife Doris Edwards, his parents: Wade and Bertha Jones, his siblings: Daniel, William, Richard, Nelson, James and Mary (Guthrie), his grandson, Todd Jones and his sister-in-law, Dorothy Jones, with whom he shared his family home for the past 20 years. He is survived by his three daughters: Kris (Gabriella Caprose) Jones, Youngstown, OH, Margaret (Diann Bowoman) Jones, Southington, OH, Connie (Kim) Fryman, Sharpsville, his son, Charles (Darlene) Jones, Shorewood, IL, five grandchildren: Mande (Mike) Burckart, Sharpsville, Jamie (Chip) Russell, Sharpsville, Jody (Jeffery Thompkins II) Campbell, Sharpsville, Caitlyn (Chris Stidd) Jones, Lacey, WA, Philip Jones, Shorewood, IL, six great grandchildren: Harrison and Lane Burckart, Brooklyn and Lenox Russell, Blaze Campbell and Jeffery Thompkins III, all of Sharpsville, his sister in-law, Phyllis Bradley, Youngstown, OH and many wonderful nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Thursday June 27th, 2024 from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm in the SHERMAN Funeral Home & Crematory 2201 Highland Rd. Hermitage, PA 16148
Funeral services will be held Thursday June 27th, 2024 at 6:00 pm in the funeral home with Rev. Dr. Anthony Kladitis, of Faith Presbyterian Church officiating. Police and full military honors will be offered.
Burial will take place in Hillcrest Cemetery.
