Irene Saxon Fisher, 91, of Sharon, passed away peacefully on Monday June 18th, 2018 at Sharon Regional Health System in Sharon, PA.
Irene was born on October 8th, 1926 to Michael and Mary (Koral) Saxon in Sharon, PA. She graduated from Sharon High School. Irene worked in the shipping department for Westinghouse Inc. in her earlier years. She also worked in the Reynolds office for Westinghouse and at Penn State Shenango in the 70’s. On July 9th, 1955 she married her husband, the late George Fisher who passed away on April 18th, 2008.
She was an active member of St. Michael Byzantine Catholic Church in Hermitage where she supported the church through their catering business for 35 years. Irene was also a former member of the Patagonia Keglers.
Irene is survived by her loving daughter, Sherry (Robert) Marriotti of Hermitage, PA; grandchildren, Jason and Shauna Marriotti, sister Elizabeth “Betty” Shemancik of Sharon, brothers, John (Janet) Saxon of Clark, James Saxon of Miamisburg, OH, Edward Saxon of San Jose, CA, also her god children and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by father, Michael Saxon, mother, Mary Saxon, husband, George Fisher, and sister Eleanor Zawacki, brother, Ronald “Leroy” Saxon, niece, Michaelene Saxon, and brother in law Steve Shemancik.
Friends may call Friday June 22nd, 2018 from 4 pm to 7 pm at SHERMAN Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 2201 Highland Rd. Hermitage, PA.
Panachida prayer service will be held Saturday June 23rd, 2018 at 10:00 am in the funeral home.
Funeral Mass of Divine Liturgy will be held on Saturday June 23rd, 2018 at 10:30 am in St. Michael Byzantine Catholic Church with Rev. Kevin E. Marks, officiating.
Burial will take place in St. Michael Byzantine Catholic Cemetery.
The family would like to thank Irene’s past caregivers, Margo, Erika, Ann, Michelle and her roommate Shirley for their compassion and care. They would also like to thank the staff at Clepper Manor.
