JoAnn Nigro, 84, a devout Roman Catholic, died peacefully on Saturday, March 14,
2026, surrounded by her loving family after a brief illness. Having heard the words,
“Come, ye blessed…,” she was ushered to the throne of God to claim her well-earned
eternal reward.
JoAnn was born in Sharon, Pennsylvania, on June 3, 1941, to Stella Marie (Marcella)
and Michael John Seaman. She graduated from Sharon High School and later pursued
a cosmetology degree at a Pittsburgh beauty school, beginning her career as a stylist in
a local salon.
On March 3, 1962, she married Albert Raymond Nigro during a nuptial Mass at Saint
Joseph Catholic Church in Sharon. Her beloved husband preceded her in death on
November 1, 2020, the Feast of All Saints.
A woman of remarkable beauty and pristine style, known for her porcelain complexion
and ebony coiffed hair, JoAnn eventually left her cosmetology career to devote herself
fully to raising her children and caring for her home. She was an exceptional baker, a
wonderful cook, and maintained a meticulous household.
Her most defining attribute was her unwavering Roman Catholic faith. JoAnn attended
daily Mass whenever possible, prayed the Holy Rosary faithfully, and frequently visited
the Blessed Sacrament. She was active in several Catholic sodalities, including Our
Lady of Fatima’s Blue Army and the World Apostolate of Fatima, USA. She was also a
founding participant in Eucharistic Adoration at the Church of Notre Dame in Hermitage
and regularly attended the weekly Holy Hour of Reparation at Our Lady of Fatima
Parish in Farrell.
In later years, JoAnn rediscovered the beauty of the Traditional Latin Mass and regularly
attended at Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Vienna, Ohio, where she
developed a deep affection for the parish and its priests.
In her final days, Father John Fongemie faithfully visited her daily, administering the
Last Rites, Viaticum, and Anointing of the Sick. The family is deeply grateful for his care,
as well as for Father Joshua Houck, who came promptly to her bedside to anoint her
and lead the family in prayer after her passing.
The family also extends heartfelt thanks to Legion of Mary members Mary Elizabeth
Tinnirello and Terri D’Angelo for praying the Rosary at JoAnn’s bedside.
JoAnn is survived by her four children: Lynne Bridges and her husband David; Lisa
Nigro; Annette Nigro and her husband Joseph Parker, and their son Christian; and Dr.
Anthony Nigro and his wife Kathy, and their children Isabella, Lucca, and Matteo. She
was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of nearly sixty years.
The family expresses sincere gratitude to the Cleveland Clinic medical team for their
dedicated care. Special thanks are extended to Lisa Nigro for her deep love and support
and to Joseph Parker for his tireless assistance in coordinating care, along with the
priests and Legion members of Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, March 20, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Queen
of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Vienna, Ohio.
Burial will follow at Saint Anthony
Cemetery in Hermitage, Pennsylvania.
Arrangements have been entrusted to SHERMAN Funeral Home & Crematory.
