John Sherman Obituary
John Samuel Sherman, 80, of Greenville, PA passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday September 27th, 2016 in his home. John was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
John was born on August 5th, 1936 to James and Madeline (Rose) Sherman in Sharon, PA. John was a veteran of the Korean War and Vietnam War. During his 32 year career in the United States Armed Forces he served in the Air Force, Navy, Army, and in the Army National Guard Reserve. John worked for Sharon steel, Copper Jennings in Masury, OH, was a policeman for West Middlesex, and most recently he worked as an Aide for Miller Memorial Nursing Home. On September 2nd, 1961 he married his wife Phyllis J. (Weston) Sherman, who survives at home.
He loved his dog Molly and enjoyed watching wrestling, westerns, and military movies.
John is survived by his wife, Phyllis Sherman, daughter, Kim Tupper of Sharpsville, PA, John Sherman of Greenville, PA, Jim (Leah) Sherman of Sharpsville, PA, Jeff (Madeline) Sherman of Greenville, PA, 2 sisters, Jane Peterson of Greenville, PA, Kathy Rueberger of Hermitage, PA, 8 grandchildren Andrew Sherman, Emily Tupper, Jordan Sherman, Jared Sherman, Sara Tupper, Jennifer Sherman, Jeff Sherman, and Alex Tupper, also surviving is 1 great grandchild, Kahlab Bartholomew.
He was preceded in death by his parents James and Madeline Sherman.
Per John’s request, private services will be held at the convenience of the family, with full military honors.
