Joseph F. Gentile

Joseph F. Gentile, 90 of Hermitage passed away peacefully on January 24th, 2025 in Shenango On the Green Assisted Living.

Joseph was born December 27th, 1934 to Mary (Tamburro) and Bernard Gentile in Mt. Carmel, PA. He was a graduate of Mt. Carmel Catholic High School. After graduating from high school, Joseph worked for National Castings 27 years and Wheatland Tube as an inspector for 15 years. On October 22nd, 1960 he married his wife Mary (D’Urso) Gentile, who survives him.

He was a member of the former St. Stanislaus Church where he served as an usher and current member of St. Bartholomew R.C. Church. Joseph loved his garden and volunteered at UPMC Farrell with the Red Coats. Joseph loved watching the Steelers, old black and white movies, classical and western music.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Gentile, sons, Joseph A. (Michelle) Gentile of Howland, OH, daughter, Anna Marie (Tim Rogers) Banovich of Sharon, Bart (Brenda) Gentile of Farrell, Michael Gentile of Hermitage, 3 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and many nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Anna Marie Gentile, brothers, Jerry, Peter, Anthony, John, Roger, and Pat Gentile.

His family would like to thank the staff at Shenango on the Green for their loving care of Joseph.

Friends may call Thursday January 30th, 2025 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at SHERMAN Funeral Home 2201 Highland Rd. Hermitage, PA.

Funeral services will be held Thursday January 30th, 2025 at 1:00 pm in the funeral home with Father John Miller officiating.

Burial will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery Hermitage, PA.
