MARGARET L. LEWIS – Sharpsville, PA
Margaret L. (Palo) Lewis passed away peacefully in Saint John XXIII, Hermitage on Wednesday, October 21, 2015. She was 86. Margaret, a lifelong resident of Sharpsville was born September 3, 1929, in Sharpsville, a daughter of the late Dominic A. and Helen M. (Whalen) Palo.
She graduated from Sharpsville High School, class of 1947 and was a member of St. Bartholomew’s Catholic Church, Sharpsville. Margaret, known as Peggy, enjoyed baking, sewing, knitting, crocheting and working jigsaw puzzles. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who called her “Nunnie.”
Margaret was married for 66 years to the late Ward J. Lewis whom she married June 19, 1948 until his passing in February 2015.
Surviving are: sons, Paul V. (Susan) Lewis and Mark A. (Cheryl) Lewis of Transfer; and Jeffrey A. (Barbara) Lewis of Eighty Four, Pa.; brother, Joseph T. Palo, Sharpsville; and sister-in-law, Betty L. Lewis, Hermitage; six grandchildren, Jennifer Yarian (Addam Stainbrook); Andrew (Jen) Lewis; Daniel Lewis (Megan Davison); Jason Lewis; TJ (Amanda) Lewis and Kenneth Lewis (Abby Forman). She also leaves three great-granddaughters, Paige Yarian, Brielle Lewis and Carsyn Lewis, and three nieces; Cynthia (Michael) Burns, Sharpsville; Ann I. (Tim) Hofius, Hermitage; and Faith A. (Paul Zipay Jr.) Lewis, New Wilmington.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Lewis was preceded in death by two sisters and their spouses; Rosemary (Richard) Simmons and Joanne (Harry) Snyder and granddaughters, Rebecca and Holly Lewis, brother in law Harold Lewis, and sister in law Virginia Lewis.
Friends may call Sunday October 25th, 2015 from 5 pm to 8 pm in Stephen J. Sherman Funeral Home & Cremation Service 2201 Highland Rd. Hermitage, PA 16148.
Friends may also call Monday October 26th, 2015 in St. Rose Cemetery Chapel from 1:30 pm to 2 pm.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday October 26th, 2015 at 2 pm in St. Rose Cemetery Chapel, Hermitage, PA with Father Matthew Strickenberger, officiating.
Entombment will take place in St. Rose Mausoleum.
Memorial contributions may be sent to Hospice of the Valley or charity of donors’ choice.
