Marie Truchan passed away from this life on March 13th, 2026. Marie passed away from this life much too soon. She was the only daughter of Virginia Struchen. Marie was an incredibly attentive and loving daughter to her mother throughout her illness until she passed away in 2021. Some feel Marie herself died from a broken heart.
Marie was originally from Olympia WA. She graduated from Grand River Community College and obtained her license as a certified Occupational Therapy Assistant. Sher worked in WA for a year before becoming a traveling therapist with her last placement at Sharon Regional. She accepted a full-time position in February 1998 and worked until her retirement in January 2023 as a pediatric therapist. Marie did not have any children of her own, but over the many years worked with thousands of children who she affectionately referred to as “my little friends”. If you were a parent whose child was lucky enough to work with Marie, consider yourself blessed. She was an incredibly gifted, creative, and energetic therapist who treated every child as if they were her own. Marie was apart of an incredible REHAB FAMILY and has been deeply missed since she retired.
Marie had many talents outside of work including hiking, golfing, gardening, house renovation and especially cooking and baking. She was a late-night owl for sure and would keep her friends up to date on all her QVC treasures she had purchased!
Marie renovated a beach house in Geneva OH and spent many summers enjoying Lake Erie with friends and the beautiful sunsets. Marie had a great sense of humor sprinkled with a little physical comedy too, entertaining all around her.
Marie was nationally certified by National Board Certification Occupation Therapy and held state license in PA. She was a former member of the American Legion Post 299.
Marie leaves behind her very special friend and confidant Jack Looney, as well as her dog Luna, and her cat Nemo. Marie was an organ donor and has given life to another with her selfless gift of a kidney. Marie’s mother was a kidney recipient many years ago and it would bring a smile to Marie’s face knowing she is now returning the gift.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Memorial donations can be made to your favorite animal charity or shelter.
As a final honor to Marie, we ask everyone to take the time to embrace a child and make them feel special.
Arrangements entrusted to the SHERMAN Funeral Home & Crematory.
