Robert Konnen Obituary
Robert A. Konnen, 72, of Hermitage, passed away peacefully on Friday February 24th, 2017 at home with family by his side.
Robert was born on June 20th, 1944 to Joseph H. and Elizabeth (Sucza) Konnen in Sharon, PA. He attended St. Ann’s parochial grade school before graduating from Farrell High School class of 1962. After high school, Robert served in the U.S. Air Force during Vietnam. Most of his time was spent in Turkey where he worked in the military intelligence community. He attended the University of Syracuse in NY; St. Mary’s College in TX; and graduated from Youngstown State University. Robert was the budget director for slippery rock university and retired in 2005 after 32 years of service. On May 4th, 1974, he married his wife, Patricia (Wood) Konnen, who survives at home.
He was of the Catholic faith. Robert enjoyed car racing, golfing, gardening, and 50’s era music. He was also a member of Delta Sigma Phi fraternity. Most important to him was time with his family and he always felt his greatest accomplishment was his children.
Robert is survived by his loving wife Patricia, daughter, Suzanne (Josh) Knupp of Greensburg, PA, son, Daniel Konnen of Seneca Lake, NY, sister and brother in law Judith (Raymond) Benetto, also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by father, Joseph H. Konnen, mother, Elizabeth Konnen, father in law Charles Wood, and mother in law June Wood.
