On Monday April 28th, 2025 at 10:16pm Robert Frank Reiter of
Sharpsville passed after an extended illness and stroke. Bob as his friends and family called him was born on Friday January 18th 1946, to Margaret and Elmer A. Reiter of Sharon.
Bob tragically lost his father Elmer at a very young age, he relied
on his mother Margaret, brother Tom along with several cousins
and friends while growing older,
Bob graduated from Sharon high school in 1965. Bobs passion
was public service he served in the United States Navy reserves
for a period around. Then being inspired by his father, Bob pursued a life
long career with the Boro of Sharpsville first as a part time Police
officer. While his true calling was the transition to the Sharpsville
paid Fire Department. He faithfully served the Boro from 1967 -
2009. During that time, he attended Youngstown State university
and several other training institutes to further his education and
expertise in firefighting and water works operations.
Robert married the love of his life Catherine L. Madden on
Saturday May 24th 1969. During the years Bob and Cathy ran a
very successful fire extinguisher refilling, service and sales business while
both working full time. Bob enjoyed conducting fire safety drills at
the Sharpsville schools to included local businesses for fire prevention and safety.
Upon retirement from the fire department, he again transitioned
within the Boro to the Sharpsville water department in 1986. Bob
then made his official and final retirement in 2009 from the Boro.
They enjoyed camping and spending time with family and friends.
The mountains and Geneva on the lake were always on the
agenda. Summer vacations with the camper were always exciting
and filed with laughter and forever memories.
On Sunday December 27th 1970 they welcomed their only son
Brian Paul.
Bob enjoyed cooking, tending to his yard and garden and of course the swimming pool and beloved dogs throughout the years, Ginger, Ralph and Mollie.
Bob and Cathy loved the occasional trips to local and distant casinos as long as they won! Some of his fondest memories were hunting with his brother Tom and brother in-law Scotty in and around Tionesta and Tidioute.
A very proud day for Dad was June 14th 2017 when the Boro of Sharpsville honored him with a PROCLAMATION making this day “Bob Reiter Day” within the Boro! Dad and his family were very proud.
During his final years he enjoyed sitting on the back porch
watching Brian take care of the yard, pool and vehicles while he
was unable to. Bob would rock on the porch glider watching Brian,
smiling the entire time while giving him some much-needed advice. He would sit and watch his loving wife Cathy make dinner and helping as he could, he was always, so very proud of his family and home.
Bob was a dedicated Husband, Father, Brother and Son he truly
loved his family and would do anything for them and his true friends,
The passing of family members and great friends took a toll thru-
out the years. Willard, Mary Catherine, Bobby, Joanne, Rita, Danny,
Marie, Leona, Robert Madden and Jack.
However, the most difficult were the passing of his beloved mother Margaret “peg” Reiter(2009) and his brother Thomas-Tom “IGGY” Reiter(2006), and tragically his beloved Father, Elmer A. Reiter in 1948.
Surviving is his loving and caring wife Catherine, who since 2015 has been his primary care giver. His son Brian and beloved wife Susan, to include several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Rest easy Dad, you will be in our thoughts every day until we meet again. Thank you for everything. Your loving family.
