Ruth Rust Obituary
Ruth E. Rust, 90, of Hermitage, passed away peacefully on Tuesday August 2nd, 2016 at UPMC Shenango Valley in Farrell, PA.
Ruth was born on November 27th, 1925 to Jess and Lyda (Wilkison) Shaffer in New Castle, PA. She graduated from Hickory High School class of 1945. Ruth worked for Mercer Cottage Hospital, Nugents Convalescent Home, and as a Coilwinder for Westinghouse Inc. On April 27th, 1962 she married the late Oscar D. Rust, who passed away June 12th, 1994.
She was a member of Faith Presbyterian Church in Hermitage, PA. Ruth loved to play cards.
Ruth is survived by her two daughters, Lois L. Simons of Hermitage, PA, Jean C. (Todd) Roberts of Mt. Joy, PA; son, William D. Rust of Jamestown, PA; sister, Marian Appleton of Naples, FL; brother, William D. McCullough of Sharpsville, PA; 11 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren. Also surviving is special friend Adam Hale, who Ruth thought of as a son.
She was preceded in death by father, Jess Shaffer, mother, Lyda McCullough, step father William "Ted" McCullough, husband, Oscar D. Rust, daughter, Nancy J. Ashman, grandson, Stephen Simons, grandson, Russell Simons, sister, Helen Hackett, sister, Carol McCullough, and brother, Raymond Shaffer.
A memorial service will be held Saturday September 17th, 2016 at 11 am in Faith Presbyterian Church Hermitage, PA.
