Sandra Lynn (Nettinger) Gaines

Sandra Lynn Gaines, 70 of Hermitage, Pa passed away following a brief illness Thursday December 18th, 2025 in UPMC Shadyside Pittsburgh, PA.

Sandra was born February 17th, 1955 to Betty Ruth (Schott) and Fred Albert Nettinger in Sharon, PA. She graduated from Hickory High School, class of 1973 and earned her Associates from the Sharon School of Business. Sandra worked for many years as a teacher’s aide in learning support for the Hermitage School District until her retirement. She spent 36 years with her loving husband Raymond T. McKnight who survives at home.

She was a member of Good Shepard Church in West Middlesex, PA. Sandra enjoyed bowling, gardening, and watching the wildlife on her property which was her grandparents’ original homestead. She was an avid Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers fan, and loved watching baseball particularly. Sandra lived to help others and most important to her was spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Surviving her is her husband, Raymond T. McKnight, mother, Betty R. Hoffman, children, Adam (Rebecca) Gaines, Cory (Kearisten) Gaines, Dana Lynn Gaines, brothers, Dan (Kim) Nettinger, Gary (Sabrina) Nettinger, grandchildren, William E. Acrie II, Daneiya Lynn Acrie, Ethan Gaines, Aspen Gaines, and Charlena Gaines.

Friends may call Monday December 22nd, 2025 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the SHERMAN Funeral Home 2201 Highland Rd. Hermitage, PA.

Funeral services will be held Monday December 22nd, 2025 at 7:00 pm in the SHERMAN Funeral Home.
