Sophia J. Misinay, 88 of Mercer passed away peacefully on March 21st, 2025 in her home with her family at her side.
Sophia was born March 22nd, 1936 to Anastasia (Pacula) and John Glus in Hubbard, OH. She graduated from Hubbard High School class of 1954. On September 18th, 1954 she married her husband, the late Joseph Misinay Jr. who passed away April 25th, 1987. Sophia worked for many years as a cook for Chiccarinos Restaurant in Hermitage.
She was a longtime member of St. Michaels Byzantine Catholic Church in Hermitage, PA. Sophia enjoyed flower gardening and cooking in her spare time.
She is survived by her daughters, Mary Ann (Ken) Misinay-Miller, Deborah Lynn (Pete) Durman, daughter in law, Monica Misinay, sons, Joseph Michael (Donna) Misinay, Daniel Richard (Carole) Misinay, brother, James Glus, 15 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren.
Sophia was preceded in death by her parents, husband Joseph, son, Andrew John Misinay, sisters, Mary Helminiak, Ann Swindler, Helen Lapushansky, Katie Brajkovich, Olga Brown, brothers, Steve, Joe, Nick, and Harry Misinay.
Family and friends may call Tuesday March 25th, 2025 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am in the SHERMAN Funeral Home 2201 Highland Rd. Hermitage, PA.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday March 25th, 2025 at 11:00 am in the funeral home with Very Rev. Kevin E. Marks officiating.
Burial will take place in Hillcrest Cemetery Hermitage, PA next to her husband.
