THELMA PEARL “Molly” SOMERFIELD
Thelma Pearl Somerfield, 90, of 2591 Danielle Ct., Hermitage, PA went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday July 20, 2016. She passed peacefully at home. Born December 21, 1925 in Greensburg, PA to John and Eva (Stout) Felker. She was the fifth of six siblings. She was employed at the former Westinghouse Electric of Greensburg, PA as an Assembler prior to marrying Chester Marion Somerfield Jr. on September 3, 1962 at which time she became a homemaker.
She was a former member of Church of Brethren, Greensburg, PA, Faith Presbyterian Church, Hermitage, PA ¬and a most recent member of New Life Baptist Church of New Wilmington, PA.
She was cherished as a sister, aunt, wife, mother and grandmother that enjoyed spending time with her family, her beloved dog, Pierre, babysitting, cooking, baking, singing, and being a prayer warrior for others. Those of us that remain will strive to live up to her legacy of faith, love, selflessness and generosity.
She is survived by her son Michael Somerfield and his wife Vicky and her only two grandchildren Nicholas and Emily Somerfield, a sister in law Pauline, her special friend Quentin “Sam” Mattocks, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son Chester M. Somerfield III and her brothers, John, Walter, and their spouses and William, her sisters Edna (Felker) Mills, Dorothy (Felker) MacDonald and their spouses.
Friends and family will be received from 9:30 to 11 am Saturday July 30, 2016 at New Life Baptist Church, 3414 State Route 208, New Wilmington, PA with a memorial service to follow, Pastor John Bailey officiating.
Interment will be at the Westmoreland County Memorial Park, Greensburg, PA. It was
Thelma’s desire that in lieu of flowers contributions could be made to either Salvation Army, 660 Fisher Hill St., Sharon, PA 16146 or Joyce Meyer Ministries, Attn: Hand of Hope Mission Fund, P.O. Box 655, Fenton, MO 63026 with a note stating Hand of Hope Mission in memory of Thelma Somerfield.
