Valerie Findley of Sharpsville passed away peacefully on Monday February 23rd. 2026, surrounded by her family after an extended battle with cancer.
Val was born January 29th, 1957 in Sharon, the daughter of Paul Herrmann and Shirley (Capson) Herrmann of Sharpsville.
Val graduated from the Sharpsville Area School District in 1975. After graduation, she worked for the Central Intelligence Agency in Washington, DC. Val then worked for First National Bank in Hermitage and the Primary Health Network in Sharon.
She was a member of the 72-73 Girls Basketball team that was inducted into the Sharpsville Hall of Fame Class of 2019. Since 1999 she has been the secretary / treasurer of the Shenango Valley Midget Football League.
On June 16th, 1979 she married her husband Thomas Findley, the love of her life who passed away May 24th, 2009. They had three trophies, Tom, Heather, and Tim.
Val enjoyed having lunch with Wanda Hicklin and Patti McGranahan, also going for pie on Sundays with Shirley Valenly and Laurie Burt.
She was a member of St. Bartholomew R.C. Church in Sharpsville.
Val leaves behind her daughter, Heather Kilgore of Sharpsville, sons, Thomas Findley of Sharpsville, and Timothy (Teresa) Findley of Clark.
Her pride and joy were her grandchildren, Laney and Myla Kilgore of Sharpsville, Jace and Liam Findley of Clark also her great granddaughter, Saydee Valerie Aikens-Kilgore.
Val also leaves behind her sisters, Lora (Jim) McCrillis, Lynne Herrmann of Sharpsville, brothers, Frank Herrmann of Edinboro, Larry (Bonnie) Herrmann of North Carolina, and Paul (Maureen) Herrmann of Sharpsville. Two brothers in law, Craig (Shelly) Findley of Sharpsville and Brian (Pam) Findley of Hubbard, OH. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews who she always enjoyed being around.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Sharpsville Wrestling Boosters in memory of Val.
Friends may call Wednesday February 25th, 2026 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the SHERMAN Funeral Home 2201 Highland Rd. Hermitage, PA.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday February 26th, 2026 at 10:00 am in St. Bartholomew R.C. Church with Father John Miller officiating. Friends are welcome to meet directly at church.
Burial will take place in Riverside Cemetery next to her husband.
